Hello. I’m Sonia Beldom from Mind and Media. I’m a psychotherapist specialising in solution-focussed hypnotherapy, CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and NLP (neuro linguistic programming). I’m also an established media and speaking skills trainer who can help transform you into a confident communicator.
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnosis is very natural comfortable calm state, where you feel deeply relaxed and are still able to hear and sense things around you. You will notice your muscles becoming deeply relaxed as you follow my voice and pay attention to your breathing as your mind and body is transported into a calm and relaxed state. Your subconscious mind controls all of your behaviours and is responsible for maintaining your physical and emotional health and by safely accessing your subconscious mind, we can instill new instructions and suggestions to create changes in your behaviour, mind and body both emotionally & physically.
You are fully conscious throughout the process and totally in control of all your actions.
BUSTING THE MYTHS
Hypnotherapy is not mind control. You will not be unconscious or out of control.
Hypnotherapy will not make you do daft things. You are in control of all of your actions.
Hypnotherapy doesn’t force you to reveal secrets. You are completely in control all the time.
Will I stay “under”? No. You are in a deeply relaxed state with total awareness of everything going on around you. You can open your eyes and come out of your deep relaxed state whenever you want.
Hypnosis is only for gullible people. Not true. Anybody can enter deep relaxation or hypnotic trance.
WHAT IS PRESENTATION AND SPEAKER TRAINING?
Making a presentation or public speaking is often quoted as one of life’s most stressful events. The most common fears and looking bad, forgetting words, appearing uninformed and not being liked. But it doesn’t have to be like that. With the right training in how to make a great first impression, how to use language and non-verbal language to its maximum potential and seeing yourself through other people’s eyes, you can transform from a timid talker into a confident communicator.
Whether it’s presenting to your team, preparing a speech for a conference, pitching to clients are managing difficult relationships, how you communicate is simply making sure that your message makes its mark or “lands” successfully.
To help with the anxiety of public speaking clients often request hypnotherapy which helps re-programme your thinking and reduce the stress of standing up in front of people and talking. Hypnotherapy is one of the most successful ways of contolling the fear of public speaking.
WHAT IS MEDIA TRAINING?
Media training is an important skill in public relations as it’s a highly effective way to prepare people for successful media appearances. It helps interviewees develop public speaking and general communication skills and assists companies in communicating their message to an audience in an impactful way. It’s helps people stay on message for their personal, company or corporate brand, learn how to read an audience and understand the importance of adapt core messages for various media; online, social, TV, radio, print.
BUSTING THE MYTHS
It’s about avoiding answering the questions. If your role is to be responsible for answering questions directly, it’s a matter of finding the most positive way of importing that information. If, however a journalist tries a left-field question, the answer is to impart your key messages whilst taking the initiative to move the conversation away from the challenging issue.
It’s only about what you wear on camera. Yes, your appearance is crucial and dressing for the event is key. Whilst avoiding black, white, bright red and close stripes, your outfit is only part of the message you’re putting across. Creating a great first impression (within milliseconds) is important and so it the content that follows; WHAT you say and HOW you say it.
It’s only for bosses or high-profile people. Entrepreneurs and anyone within an organisation could be called on to speak, especially if they have specific knowledge and insight. Media training whole teams is a smart move to ensure everybody feels part of the same organisation, is conveying the same message and gaining confidence in communications.
